Dell Secretly Charges Customers For Service: Suit

Law360, New York (May 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A proposed class action has alleged that Dell Inc. has been charging customers for on-site repair service without disclosing the costs to them.

An amended complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California by Vivian Fiori and Roggie Trujillo says Dell is burying first-year service costs in internal invoices that are never shown to consumers. The plaintiffs allege that the practices violate various California consumer laws, including the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act.
