Cigna, American Specialty Hit With ERISA Collusion Suit

Law360 (April 16, 2018, 2:19 PM EDT) -- Cigna and American Specialty Health have been hit with a proposed ERISA class action in Pennsylvania federal court accusing them of colluding to saddle members and plans with the charges ASH incurs for processing claims and administering a network on Cigna's behalf.

Cigna Corp., Cigna Health and Life Insurance Co., American Specialty Health Inc. and American Specialty Health Group Inc. were hit with a Employee Retirement Income Security Act complaint — dated Thursday but entered on Friday — by Kathleen Kilroy, who said she was insured by Cigna under a health plan offered by Macy's Inc., her employer.
