Salinger Sues Over Unauthorized 'Catcher' Sequel

Law360, New York (June 1, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Reclusive author J.D. Salinger has taken a dispute over an unsanctioned sequel to his literary landmark “The Catcher in the Rye” to court, reportedly filing suit in district court Monday to block the publication of an upcoming spinoff set for release this fall.

Salinger is seeking undisclosed damages and an injunction halting the book’s publication in a suit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against small publishing house Windupbird Publishing, California-based SCB Distributors and Swedish-based Nicotext.
