Cher Sues Universal Music For $5M In Royalties

Law360 (June 3, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Singer and actress Cher has filed suit against Universal Music Group Inc., claiming the music industry giant breached recording royalties contracts and hid $5 million in royalties to which she, her late husband Sonny Bono and her family are entitled.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the Superior Court of the State of California in the County of Los Angeles, claims that Universal Music, in "desperately trying to maximize its revenue streams" amid sagging record sales, underreported royalties.
