Texas Gas Station Buc-ee's Wins TM Battle Over Beaver Logo

Law360, Houston (May 22, 2018, 4:46 PM EDT) -- The popular Texas-based convenience store chain Buc-ee's Ltd. won a court battle Tuesday when a federal jury in Houston agreed that a competitor's cartoon alligator logo was too similar to its cartoon beaver logo, siding with Buc-ee's on claims including trademark infringement.

The jury's verdict, which came after less than six hours of deliberation, was a total win for Buc-ee's, which had filed the trademark suit in December 2015 against Amjad "John" Panjwani, the owner of a small chain of convenience stores and two barbecue restaurants that operate under the name Choke Canyon in San Antonio and South Texas.
