ITC To Investigate Handset Patent Dispute

Law360 (September 20, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has planned to hear a patent infringement case between Samsung Electronics Co. and Ericsson over Samsung’s alleged violation of handset function patents.

South Korea-based Samsung said Wednesday that the ITC notified the company on Aug. 31 of an investigation into the infringement dispute. Ericsson asked the ITC to prohibit Samsung, the world's third largest handset maker by market share, from importing handsets to the United States.
