Bond Hearing Ordered For Haitian Man Detained For 8 Months

Law360 (May 24, 2018, 5:34 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday ordered that a Haitian man detained for more than eight months be issued a bond hearing to determine whether he should be free as his deportation case proceeds, holding that to deny him the hearing would be unconstitutional.

U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan ordered the federal government to conduct the hearing for Augustin Sajous within two weeks, determining that not to do so would violate the due process clause of the Fifth Amendment, according to the opinion....
