AT&T, All Telecom Cos. Off Hook In Wiretapping MDL

Law360 (June 4, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has severely pared down the multidistrict litigation over Bush-era wiretapping, dismissing dozens of lawsuits against wireless communications companies because a 2008 law grants them retroactive immunity from actions related to feeding intelligence to the U.S. government.

On Wednesday, Judge Vaughn R. Walker of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted the U.S. government's motion to dismiss all of the claims in the MDL against electronic communication service providers.
