LML Hits 6 More Banks With Check-Debit Patent

Law360 (June 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Continuing to assert its check-processing patent, LML Patent Corp. has accused half a dozen banks, including First Banks Inc. and American Bank of Texas, of infringing a patent covering payment services that convert paper checks into electronic transactions.

The complaint, lodged Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, accuses five Texas banks and First Banks of providing check-converting services and products that fall within the claims of LML’s patent.
