FTC Wins Injunction In False Google Agent Suit

By Bonnie Eslinger (June 6, 2018, 9:10 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge on Wednesday granted the Federal Trade Commission's request for an injunction against a company that allegedly robocalled small-business owners, falsely claiming to represent Google and threatening to block the companies from the search engine's results unless a fee was paid.

The order from U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga finds that there is "good cause" to believe the FTC's allegations against Pointbreak Media LLC, its affiliates and representatives, and therefore the federal agency is "likely to prevail on the merits of this action."
