Union Health Fund's $3.5M Award Was Proper, 2nd Circ. Says

Law360 (June 7, 2018, 7:55 PM EDT) -- The Second Circuit on Thursday upheld a New York federal judge's decision to resolve a decadelong brawl between two sets of union fund trustees by awarding the Union Mutual Medical Fund more than $3.5 million to compensate for payment shortfalls by trustees of a Teamsters Local 210 fund.

The appellate court defended the judge's choice to allow Union Mutual Medical Fund, or UMMF, to amend its complaint to include Labor Management Relations Act claims, saying the district court didn't violate a Second Circuit mandate in a related case by doing so.
