House Republicans Blast Climate Change Bill

Law360 (June 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives and their allies lashed out Tuesday at the Waxman-Markey climate change bill, saying it would do everything from cripple the economy to take away a key bargaining chip with China.

Rep. Joe Pitts, R-Pa., testified at an Energy and Environment subcommittee hearing that no matter how the bill was doctored or tailored, it was a tax that would cost jobs and punish everyone in the U.S. who used energy.
