Chrysler Sale Hits Roadblock In Supreme Court

Law360, New York (June 8, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has stayed the $2 billion sale of Chrysler LLC to Italian carmaker Fiat SpA, handing at least a temporary victory to a group of Indiana pension funds, consumer organizations and others opposing the sale.

In a two-sentence order handed down Monday afternoon, Justice Ruth Ginsburg, who is responsible for emergency appeals from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, said only that Chrysler's bankruptcy proceedings would be “stayed pending further order of the undersigned or of the court.”
