Soccer League Fights For June 2019 Trial In Antitrust Suit

Law360 (July 5, 2018, 8:11 PM EDT) -- The North American Soccer League defended its bid for an early June 2019 trial date in its antitrust suit against the U.S. Soccer Federation, arguing in New York federal court Wednesday that it has repeatedly lobbied for the date to ensure it can hold a 2020 season.

The league, which claims U.S. Soccer schemed with rival league Major League Soccer to hamper its success, fought back against U.S. Soccer's claims that the league's request for a June 2019 trial "wholly undermines" a previously agreed upon timeline, saying it has proposed the expedited hearing several times already.
