Calif. Judge Clears $1M EEOC Deal In Disability Bias Row

Law360 (July 16, 2018, 9:14 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Friday signed off on a $1 million deal between the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and HVAC component manufacturer Mueller Industries Inc. to end a suit alleging the company’s attendance and leave policies discriminated against workers with disabilities.

U.S. District Judge George H. Wu approved a consent decree that closes the book on a suit the agency filed last month accusing Mueller Industries of flouting the Americans with Disabilities Act by not excusing workers who had disability-related absences or providing them with extra time off as a reasonable accommodation for their disabilities.
