Seat Plaintiffs Seek Class For Claims Against Ford

Law360, New York (June 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Plaintiffs are asking a judge to certify a class accusing Ford Motor Co. of selling vehicles with defective seat systems and conspiring with rival automakers to conceal the problem.

In a motion filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, the plaintiffs asked to certify a class of Maryland residents who own certain model years of Ford Explorers, Mercury Mountaineers and Ford Windstars.

Specifically, the plaintiffs asked for two subclasses: all Maryland residents who own Explorers from model years 1991 to 2001...
