George Lucas Fights Deposition In 'Star Wars' Game TM Fight

Law360 (July 23, 2018, 7:14 PM EDT) -- Facing a trademark lawsuit from Walt Disney Co.'s Lucasfilm Ltd., the developer of an unauthorized "Star Wars" app is pushing to depose George Lucas himself — a move the famed filmmaker says seemed to be "not for any proper purpose but rather to harass."

The developer, Ren Ventures Ltd., sent a subpoena that says it needs more information from Lucas about how he coined the fictional term at the center of the case, but attorneys for Lucas said Friday the legendary director "has no role in this action or unique knowledge relevant to this dispute."
