Wrongful Death Suit Against Marlins Pitcher's Estate Is Settled

By Ryan Boysen (August 3, 2018, 9:42 PM EDT) -- Family members of the two men who perished alongside Jose Fernandez in a 2016 boating accident have settled their wrongful death and negligence suit against the former Miami Marlins star pitcher for an undisclosed amount.

Fernandez, 24, was at the helm of his boat Kaught Looking with Emilio Macias, 27, and Eduardo Rivero, 25, when it crashed at high speed into a jetty, flipping the craft and killing all of its occupants. The families of Macias and Rivero filed suits seeking $2 million each.
