Law360 (August 16, 2018, 6:12 PM EDT) -- EPIC and a coalition of like-minded internet consumer groups urged the Federal Trade Commission on Thursday to slap Facebook with a hefty fine and conclude the agency's investigation into the Cambridge Analytica scandal by September or potentially see the legal basis for transferring data across the Atlantic grind to a halt.
The group reminded the FTC that the European Union Parliament has passed a non-binding resolution calling for the EU-US Privacy Shield data transfer deal to be suspended unless the United States complies with EU data protection laws.
