Northwestern Mutual Faces $200M Wage Suit

Law360, New York (June 25, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A $200 million proposed class action has been filed against Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. alleging that sales and financial representatives at the company have been denied proper wages and overtime pay.

In the class action complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, the three plaintiffs —Lola Lint, Norma Waddell and David Yang — allege that Northwestern willfully misclassified sales and financial representatives as independent contractors, allowing the company to exempt the workers from both state and federal overtime...
