Fired Workers Hit IBM With Nationwide Age-Bias Suit

Law360 (September 17, 2018, 9:41 PM EDT) -- Three former IBM workers filed a nationwide collective action against the multinational tech company in Manhattan federal court Monday alleging they were fired as part of a campaign to replace older employees with younger ones.

IBM launched a strategy in 2012 to oust the older workers and hire staffers born after 1980, according to named plaintiffs Edvin Rusis, 59, of Laguna Niguel, California, Henry Gerrits, 67, of Cary, North Carolina, and Phil McGonegal, 55, of Atlanta. All three were longtime employees, and all were fired at the end of June.
