Schering To Pay $55M To Settle AWP Suit

Law360, New York (June 29, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Drugmaker Schering-Plough Corp. and its generics subsidiary Warrick Pharmaceuticals Corp. have agreed to pay $55 million to settle several lawsuits alleging that they reported inflated prices to Medicaid for over 20 different generic drugs, including albuterol, amoxicillin and ribavirin.

If approved, the settlement, which was filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, would resolve a whistleblower suit filed by Ven-A-Care of the Florida Keys Inc., and Medicaid fraud suits filed by the Florida and California state governments.
