Expanding OSH Act, Increasing Penalties

Law360, New York (July 16, 2009, 1:11 PM EDT) -- Newly proposed legislation in Congress, entitled the Protecting American Workers Act (H.R. 2067), would create a broad expansion in the Occupational Safety and Health Act’s applicability and a significant increase in both criminal and civil penalties for employers. This expansion would also extend criminal liability for OSH Act violations to responsible corporate officers.
