New York City Wins 'Tavern on the Green' Trademark Fight

By Bill Donahue (October 2, 2018, 11:15 AM EDT) -- The City of New York has won a long-running trademark dispute over the iconic Central Park restaurant Tavern on the Green, preventing the landmark's former operator from continuing to use the name.

The Friday ruling came in a lawsuit filed last year that claimed Tavern On The Green International LLC, a successor to the site's longtime operator, had violated an arrangement with the city that allowed it to keep using the name for new restaurants outside New York.
