Law360 (October 25, 2018, 10:59 PM EDT) -- Mining companies Natural Resource Partners LP and Foresight Energy LP announced Thursday that they have reached a deal to settle lawsuits related to two Illinois coal mines.
The Deer Run Mine near the city of Hillsboro and the Shay Mine in Macoupin County are owned by Texas-based NRP and leased to Missouri-based Foresight Energy.
The announcement Thursday provided scant details on the litigation between the companies other than to say that there were "disputed past due amounts," and that upon execution of final documents, NRP will receive an initial payment of $25 million from Foresight.
