Ex-Applebee's Hostess To Receive $100K In Trans Bias Case
Law360 (October 26, 2018, 7:42 PM EDT) -- An Applebee’s franchisee will pay $100,000 to a transgender hostess the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleged the franchisee fired because of her gender identity, according to a consent decree a New York federal judge approved Thursday.
In addition to giving the six-figure payout to ex-hostess Danielle Feola, New York City-area franchisee Apple-Metro Inc. will give workers a policy blocking gender identity-based harassment and provide anti-discrimination training to its managers and human resources workers. The parties filed the deal Wednesday, and U.S. District Judge Vincent Briccetti approved it the next day.
