Southwire Stings Rivals Over Cable Patent

Law360, New York (July 7, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Electrical cable and wire manufacturer Southwire Inc. has fired off a lawsuit against rivals Encore Wire Corp. and Cerro Wire Inc. alleging infringement of a patent covering a method of making a kind of wieldy, low-friction cable.

The complaint, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claims Encore and Cerro use Southwire’s patented process to make their competing types of sheathed, easy-to-install cable.
