NJ Film Co. Hit With IP Suit Over Shakespeare Play Videos

Law360 (November 20, 2018, 1:08 PM EST) -- A New Jersey film distributor has been slapped with a copyright lawsuit by a London-based arts nonprofit alleging it continues to sell videos of William Shakespeare plays the group stages, even though its licensing agreement has expired.

In complaint filed Monday in New Jersey federal court, the Shakespeare Globe Trust claims Kultur International Films Inc. and operator Dennis Hedlund have refused to stop selling videos of its productions, ranging from "All's Well That Ends Well" to "A Midsummer Night's Dream," even though its licensing deal ended in May 2017.
