Verizon Seeks Room For Patent Claims In Charter Plan

Law360, New York (July 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Verizon Communications Inc. has claimed that the Chapter 11 reorganization plan submitted by bankrupt Charter Communications Inc. could put at risk any future award or settlement money obtained from Charter in pending patent infringement suits.

Verizon filed a motion Monday lodging limited objections to Charter’s reorganization plan, and asking the judge overseeing Charter’s bankruptcy case in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York to amend the plan’s language to ensure Verizon’s contingent claims are neither impaired nor discharged by the plan’s confirmation....
