Calif. Federal Judge Blocks Trump Asylum-Seeker Entry Rules

Law360 (December 19, 2018, 10:18 PM EST) -- The Trump administration can't enforce a rule issued last month that said migrants can only apply for asylum if they cross the U.S. border at a designated port of entry, a California federal judge ruled on Wednesday.

In the ruling, U.S. District Judge Jon S. Tigar noted that the immigration rule has already been fiercely fought over both in his courtroom and at the Ninth Circuit, which recently upheld Judge Tigar's earlier decision to temporarily block it from taking effect.  

"If anything, the inconsistency between the new regulation and the immigration laws has been stated more clearly," Judge Tigar said...
