Chinese Drywall Plaintiffs Seek Class Certification

Law360, New York (July 17, 2009, 2:32 PM EDT) -- The plaintiffs in the multidistrict litigation over the Chinese-made, allegedly tainted drywall have asked a judge to certify the litigation as a class action, saying the move would expedite the matter.

In a motion filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the plaintiffs said the claims of the proposed class were so numerous that a mass joinder was an ineffective tool. The motion said that tens of thousands of homes were affected by the drywall in question.
