Goldman Unfairly Reaped $230M In SuperValu Deal: Food Co.

Law360 (January 31, 2019, 11:06 PM EST) -- United Natural Foods Inc. accused Goldman Sachs in a New York state court Wednesday of misappropriating or unfairly charging more than $230 million while advising its $2.9 billion buy of grocery chain SuperValu Inc.

The deal, which was announced in July, was financed through a $2.15 billion loan that Goldman Sachs got UNFI though Goldman Bank, along with Bank of America and U.S. Bank NA. The loan was organized in such a way that helped everyone except UNFI, including Goldman and its clients that had bet against SuperValu, Wednesday's complaint claimed.
