Landry's Fights Visa To Keep $12M Claim In Data Breach Row
By Dean Seal (February 14, 2019, 5:59 PM EST) -- Landry's Inc. on Wednesday pushed back against a bid from Visa Inc. to dismiss the hospitality company's third-party claim against it in a row over fees assessed in the wake of a data breach at Landry's properties, rehashing arguments that it is not liable for penalties that Visa improperly imposed.
The company, which manages dining and entertainment brands, is facing breach of contract claims from JPMorgan Chase Bank NA's payment processing arm Paymentech LLC in Texas federal court, but filed a third-party claim last fall against Visa, which assessed more than $12.6 million in fees from Paymentech when Landry's allegedly breached payment...
