Playwright Loses Bid For New Trial Over Perry Film

Law360, New York (July 24, 2009, 5:38 PM EDT) -- A playwright accusing Tyler Perry of stealing the idea for the blockbuster film “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” from a play written in the early 1990s has lost a bid for a new trial to contest a jury verdict in favor of the media impresario.
