Qualcomm, Broadcom Talks Stalled

Law360, New York (October 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The founders of rival California-based cell phone chip companies Qualcomm Inc. and Broadcom Corp. failed to reach a settlement regarding 10 pending patent lawsuits in a judge-ordered face-off in federal court Wednesday.

Judge Anthony Battaglia asked the chairmen – Broadcom’s Henry Samueli and Qualcomm’s Irwin Jacobs – to meet in San Diego Court to try to reach a settlement regarding the lawsuits.

Broadcom and Qualcomm have been entangled in patent and antitrust litigation for several years now, filing suits in venues all over the United States....
