FDA Says Bodybuilding Products Contain Steroids

Law360, New York (July 29, 2009, 7:29 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a public health advisory warning consumers about bodybuilding supplements manufactured by American Cellular Laboratories Inc., saying the products contain potentially harmful synthetic steroids being marketed as "steroid-like ingredients."

The advisory, issued Tuesday, follows a formal warning letter the FDA sent to ACL on Monday.

The Las Vegas-based company also finds itself embroiled in a investigation that began when the federal government carried out a search of ACL CEO Maurice Sandoval's California home on July 23.
