Yahoo-Microsoft Ad Deal Incites Antitrust Worries

Law360, New York (July 29, 2009, 4:16 PM EDT) -- The long-awaited deal announced Wednesday by Yahoo Inc. and Microsoft Corp. to create a 10-year search advertising partnership has drawn scrutiny from the chairman of the U.S. Senate antitrust panel, who said the pact raises competition issues.

“The deal between Yahoo and Microsoft — industry giants and direct competitors in Internet advertising and search markets — warrants our careful scrutiny,” said Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee's antitrust panel.
