Concert Promoter Appeals $5M Ponzi Case Judgment

Law360, New York (July 30, 2009, 1:35 PM EDT) -- A former big-name concert promoter accused of running a Ponzi scheme has appealed a $5 million judgment, along with a separate sanctions order requiring him to pay certain attorneys' fees and costs.

John P. Utsick, the principal of Miami-based Worldwide Entertainment Inc. who promoted tours for such musicians as Elton John, Shania Twain, the Rolling Stones, the Bee Gees and Bruce Springsteen, appealed Wednesday from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit....
