Amazon, JPMorgan Settle Data Encryption Patent Suit
By Leigh Kamping-Carder (July 31, 2009, 4:51 PM EDT) -- Amazon.com Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. have settled with TQP Development LLC in litigation accusing nearly two dozen banks, several major credit card companies and others of infringing a patent related to an online encrypted data transmission method.
Judge T. John Ward granted a stipulated motion for dismissal on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, dismissing all claims and counterclaims between JPMorgan and TQP. A day earlier, he also approved a deal between Amazon and the patent holder.
JPMorgan and TQP signed off on a "settlement agreement" on June 15, according to the order....
