Great American Loses Sanctions Bid In Fla. Condo Suit

By Matthew Guarnaccia (March 29, 2019, 4:16 PM EDT) -- A federal magistrate judge has shot down Great American Insurance Co.'s bid to punish a Florida construction firm and its lawyers for allegedly lying in reference to a claim for reimbursement of payments for a condominium project.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Barry R. Seltzer on Thursday denied the insurer's request to sanction Verdex Construction LLC and its lawyers and throw out the construction company's lawsuit against Great American, saying there is no evidence of bad faith or deliberate intent to deceive.
