By Chelsea Naso (April 9, 2019, 6:20 PM EDT) -- Mergers and acquisitions activity may have been down slightly during the first quarter, but a series of 11-figure transactions made headlines in sectors like pharmaceuticals, financial services and industrials.
The quarter saw $801.5 billion in deal value announced, down 15 percent from the same stretch of 2018, according to Mergermarket. There were nine megadeals — or deals valued at $10 billion or higher — announced during the first three months of the year. Just one of the nine was a cross-border deal, according to Mergermarket.
