New Neb. Ballot Initiative Seeks Gambling At Horse Tracks

By Joyce Hanson (April 12, 2019, 6:58 PM EDT) -- Two Nebraska groups have filed a proposed "Keep the Money in Nebraska" ballot initiative with the secretary of state that would let voters decide in 2020 whether to approve a constitutional amendment that authorizes casino gambling at licensed horse-racing tracks.

The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska's economic development arm, Ho-Chunk Inc., and the Nebraska Horsemen's Benevolent Protection Association said Thursday they want to amend the state constitution to expand legalized gambling at tracks. They also seek to win passage of two statutory initiatives that would further regulate casino gambling.
