GM Wants To Fight Transmissions Defect Claims At Home

By Dean Seal (April 15, 2019, 5:31 PM EDT) -- General Motors has asked a Florida federal judge to transfer a proposed class action over alleged defects in two automatic transmission models to its home state of Michigan, where an identical suit from the same plaintiffs was just filed.

The automaker said Friday that two Florida residents who brought warranty and consumer protection claims against GM last December have since agreed to drop their five non-Floridian co-plaintiffs from the suit and are now attached to an overlapping lawsuit filed in Detroit on April 10. However, they will not agree to transfer the Florida action to Michigan for consolidation, GM said....
