LG Chem Launches $1B Trade Secret Fight Over Car Batteries

Law360 (April 29, 2019, 11:21 PM EDT) -- LG Chem Ltd. hit rival Korean car battery maker SK Innovation Co. with a pair of federal lawsuits on Monday alleging LG had lost at least $1 billion due to "a multi-company, international conspiracy" to poach its employees and steal the trade secrets behind its electric vehicle batteries.

In two separate suits, one filed in Delaware federal court and the other filed with the U.S. International Trade Commission, LG Chem and a U.S. subsidiary accused SK and its own U.S. affiliate of trying to shirk the hard work of developing electric car battery products.
