Calif. Enviro Authorities Move To Ban Unsafe Pesticide
Law360 (May 8, 2019, 8:00 PM EDT) -- California environmental authorities announced on Tuesday that they have decided to ban chlorpyrifos, a pesticide linked to negative health impacts that has been at the center of a federal lawsuit seeking to force the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to also prohibit the product.
In announcing the decision, Golden State regulators cited independent research suggesting the pesticide may cause brain development problems in children and other health issues.
"California's action to cancel the registration of chlorpyrifos is needed to prevent the significant harm this pesticide causes children, farm workers and vulnerable communities," California Environmental Protection Agency chief Jared Blumenfeld said in a...
