DC Circ. Revives 6 Iran Terror Liability Suits

Law360 (May 10, 2019, 10:17 PM EDT) -- The D.C. Circuit on Friday revived liability claims against Iran over its support of four deadly terrorist bombings, ruling that a district court could not decide on its own initiative that the claims had been filed too late.

There are very limited circumstances in which a court can bring up an affirmative defense, such as a statute of limitations, on behalf of a defendant who has forfeited that defense, a D.C.
