Md. AG, PPG Reach Deal On Mercury Emissions

Law360, New York (August 11, 2009, 6:08 PM EDT) -- The office of Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Glanser and paint and chemicals supplier PPG Industries Inc. have announced an agreement to reduce mercury emissions at a PPG plant near the Maryland-West Virginia border.

The agreement calls on Pittsburgh, Pa.-based PPG to reduce emissions to 150 pounds per year or less by 2011 and 145 pounds per year or less by 2013, according to a news release from Glanser's office Tuesday. The agreement invokes penalties of up to $240,000 per year for failure to comply....
