Obama Seeks Review Of Export Control Process

Law360, New York (August 14, 2009, 2:58 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama has asked the National Security Council and the National Economic Council to launch a review of the U.S. export control system — including the dual-use and defense trade processes — and extended the authority for the U.S. Department of Commerce-administered controls.

The review will consider reforms to the system in order to enhance the country's national security, foreign policy and economic security interests, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs announced Thursday.
