E.U. Threatens France With Suit Over Takeover Law

Law360, New York (October 12, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission threatened legal action against France on Thursday if Paris fails to change its new protectionist corporate takeover law, which Brussels fears will hinder investments from other countries in the European Union.

If France fails to dismantle the controversial new law within the next two months, the E.C.’s competition regulator will file a lawsuit against Paris in the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, according to the E.C.
