Universal Music Sues Online Video Companies

Law360, New York (October 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Universal Music Group has sued online file-sharing companies Grouper Networks Inc. and Bolt Inc. for allegedly infringing its copyrights on thousands of music videos.

According to the suit, which was filed Monday in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, the Grouper and Bolt Web sites have allowed users to post unauthorized videos from such famous Universal artists as Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, U2 and 50 Cent.
